Munira Mirza has a background in journalism, lecturing and policy research and has worked for cultural and charitable organisations including the Royal Society of Arts and Tate. She is a member of the Arts Council London, a council member on the UK Committee of the European Cultural Foundation and is a founding member of the Manifesto Club. Mirza did her PhD at the University of Kent on the subject of local cultural policies in the UK.
Her published works include ‘Culture Vultures: Is UK Arts Policy Damaging the Arts?’ (2006) and ‘Living Apart Together: British Muslims and the Paradox of Multiculturalism’ (2007). She has produced documentaries for BBC Radio 4 on race, sport and identity and written for ‘The Guardian’, ‘The Daily Mail’, ‘Prospect’ and a number of academic journals.
