The Red Star Baroque Circle was established in 2009 to give form to the KT Wong Foundation’s vision that the introduction, and flourishing, of baroque music in China will be an experience that the Chinese can call their own.
Through the Red Star Baroque Circle, talented and promising music graduates from China are benefiting from interacting with some of the world’s leading baroque specialists.
In 2009, to support the KT Wong Foundation’s ground-breaking co-production of Semele with leading international baroque specialists La Monnaie | de Munt, the Red Star Baroque Circle invited three young Chinese Opera singers to join the cast of Semele in Brussels.
Working with leading figures from the international opera world and one of the foremost conductors of our time, Christophe Rousset, these students also had the extraordinary opportunity to work under the direction of world-renowned contemporary artist, Zhang Huan.
The Red Start Baroque Circle is generously supported by Lady Linda Wong Davies, Mr Harry Lee, Mr & Mrs Steven Schaefer, Mr Ray Tooth and The Hon. Mrs Laura Weinstock.
