Chinese Cinema Season 2014

The KT Wong Foundation will launch an exciting season of classic Chinese cinema with an exclusive screening of 1934 silent film masterpiece, The Goddess on June 24th 2014. The newly remastered film will be screened in Paris at La Cinémathèque Française, accompanied by a live orchestra playing a newly commissioned score by Chinese film composer Zou Ye.

This screening forms part of the official celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of China-France diplomatic relations initiated by General Charles de Gaulle.

The Goddess also form an introduction to the Chinese Cinema season, which will be held in October at the Cinémathèque supported by the KT Wong Foundation.

Entitled Goddess, Martyr, Heroine – A Portrait of Women in Chinese Cinema it will feature a further 30 films spanning over 100 years of film making. The season is a unique collection of the great works of Chinese Cinema, focusing in particular on the changing roles of women in society and offering an extraordinary insight into the history of Chinese film making.
